Woodbury County official arrested

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - A Woodbury County Supervisor was arrested Saturday on charges of domestic assault.

The Sheriff's Department said David Tripp, who is also a correctional officer for the county, was arrested in the early morning hours by the Sioux City Police Department.  He's accused of firing a revolver into the air during an argument with his wife.
The incident allegedly happened inside Tripp's home.

Tripp has been put on paid administrative leave by the Sheriff's Department, according to Sheriff Dave Drew.

County Attorney P.J. Jennings said the investigation will be handled internally, and the results will be released later this week.

Woodbury County Board Chairman Larry Clausen said an incident like this has never happened in his more than 30-years serving on the board. He's looking into the board's protocol.
