Drainage issue delays new electric facility

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) Construction of a new facility in the Yards has hit a minor snag.

Sioux City was supposed to sell the land at 1200 Cunningham Drive to Echo Electric Supply Company.

The wholesale electrical distributor wants to build a new facility at the former site of the Floyd Valley Packing Plant.

The city was scheduled to move on the sale of the land and a development agreement with the company, on December 9th.

It was delayed again Monday night, because of a drainage issue.

"They found some issues with the storm sewer. We have had crews out there since then looking at it, trying to assess whether or not there needs to be a repair,” said Public Works Director Jade Dundas.

Dundas said if an issue is found on city right-of-way, the city will repair the problem.

Otherwise, they'll move forward with the development agreement next year.
