Seafood dishes swim into holiday mainstream

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - As far as traditional holiday dinners go, most people don't immediately think of using seafood.

But some chefs and dietitians in Siouxland say seafood dishes just may need to swim to the top of your holiday cooking list.

Hy-Vee sells 75 % of their seafood in the month of December, and they say it's for good reason.
Hy-Vee's store chef on Hamilton Boulevard in Sioux City says seafood can be used for any course in a big holiday meal, for dips, salads, or even the entree.
He says the only problem is, most people are afraid of trying to cook seafood, but it's really quite simple.

"Really, it's a case of warming it up, and there's many choices in doing that. If someone needs help with that, I'm delighted to walk them through it step-by-step, because it's very simple, it goes very quickly, and when you get done the results are just spectacular," Chef Ed Camenzend, Hamilton Hy-Vee Store Chef said.

Chef Camenzend says his favorite seafood for holiday meals is king crab.
