Iowa players board their plane.
A week from Wednesday, Iowa and 14th ranked LSU will meet in the Outback Bowl in Tampa Bay, Florida.
The Hawkeyes left at 11 a.m. on Christmas Eve from the Cedar Rapids airport.
The bowl festivities actually began Monday for the squad, who had a pregame meal at Outback Steakhouse in Coralville, Iowa.
The Hawkeyes have a wave of momentum heading into New Year's day and a ninth win would be the program's most since the 2009 season.
"It's a big stage, as big a stage as we've played on all year," linebacker James Morris said. "To win this game would mean a lot for our program, and it'd be awesome for me as an individual for me to go out with that kind of win, too."
The Outback Bowl kicks off at noon and can be seen on ESPN.
