Clean Line Energy makes future plans in O'Brien County, Iowa

Clean Line Energy is working on plans to install a high voltage transmission line starting in O'Brien County.

The energy would be transferred to populated areas out east supplying power to over a million homes.

The company's original route conflicted with MidAmerican's turbine locations, so they altered it to fit everyone's needs.

"We've been working with the county economic developers, and we've also certainly talked to the county supervisors, and individual landowners to make adjustments to the route, so that both projects can be successful," Rock Island Clean Line Iowa Manager Beth Conley said.

Conley said the company is currently working on acquiring easements with landowners and their application to the state for permission to build the transmission line.

She anticipates construction starting toward the latter part of 2015.
