MidAmerican works on largest wind project in the state of Iowa

The largest wind energy project in Iowa, continues to take shape in O'Brien County.

Work is underway on the foundations for 218 turbines of Midamerican Energy Company's, "highland wind project."

When complete, the wind farm will produce 500 megawatts of wind-generated power.

Midamerican plans to continue to work on the foundations in 2014, and put the turbines up in 2015.


Continued search for South Dakota female inmate Courtney Mitchell


South Dakota prison officials continue the search for a female inmate, who didn't return to a work release center in Sioux Falls.

25-year-old Courtney Mitchell is serving a four-year prison sentence for grand theft out of Lincoln County, and a one-year sentence for possession of a controlled substance in Minnehaha County.

She was due to return to the Minnehaha County Correction Center Friday afternoon, following her shift at a work release job. Mitchell never showed up.

Upcoming session of the South Dakota Legislature

The death penalty, health care for poor people and education reform will be among the top issues tackled, in the upcoming session of the South Dakota legislature.

Governor Dennis Daugaard, recommended three percent increases in state aid to schools, and payments to health care providers in the Medicaid program.

Lawmakers convene the new session in Pierre on January 14th.

Fruitcakes are flying at Ponca State Park

Fruitcake was flying this weekend in Northeast Nebraska.

Ponca State Park, hosted its second fruitcake fling.

Kids and adults alike stepped up to give the cakes a hurl.

Prizes were awarded in various age groups.

Park officials, baked up nearly one-hundred loafs of fruitcakes and 50 cupcakes for the kids to fling.

The longest toss was 97 feet, and four inches.
