DELAWARE COUNTY (KWWL) -
An Independence woman was killed when troopers say the vehicle she was driving pulled out in front of another vehicle in Delaware County on New Year's Eve morning.
Ashlei Ann Connolly, 24, of Independence, was transported by ambulance to Regional Medical Center in Manchester, where she was pronounced dead, according to the Iowa State Patrol on Tuesday.
The driver of the other vehicle, Emily Ann Grant, 17, of Delhi, was also transported by ambulance to Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries, according to the report.
Both had been wearing seatbelts at the time, according to the report.
Troopers say Connolly's Chevy Cavalier was stopped at the intersection of 255th Street and 180th Avenue at around 10:46 a.m. when the vehicle crossed into the path of Grant's Pontiac G6, which was northbound on 180th Avenue at the time, according to the State Patrol.
Grant's vehicle then struck Connolly's vehicle. Both cars came to rest outside the traveled portion of the roadway.
