Boykin chosen as chairman of Woodbury County Board of Supervisors

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- George Boykin won the position of chairman of the board in a 4 to 1 vote.

Supervisor David Tripp was the only one who voted against Boykin.

Boykin said he's held the position at least 4 times since he was elected to the board in 1984. He said the biggest challenge he'll have to deal with is the budget because if they don't make some cuts, taxpayers could be seeing a minor increase in taxes.

But, Boykin said he's ready for the job.

"To me, it's a prestigious position and the person that gets the honor of serving that position, should cherish it and I do," Boykin said.

Boykin said there's a lot to look forward to in the county for the coming year like continued work on CF Industries and the possibility of a mega site.
