Penn dispute with MRHD left off IRGC's January agenda

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- Owners of Sioux City's Argosy Casino will have to wait for state gaming regulators to talk about renewal of the floating casino's license.

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission confirmed that Penn National's license request will not be on its January 9th agenda. The IRGC won't meet in February, which means the earliest the license issue could be addressed would be at its March meeting.

Back in August, the IRGC voted not to renew the Argosy's license. Penn claimed the commission's vote was illegal. A judge agreed, and last month a he ordered a "stay" of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino's gaming license. Soon after, the Iowa Supreme Court lifted the "stay" until the legal dispute between Penn National, and its non-profit partner, Missouri River Historical Development, is resolved in court, in December of 2014.
