SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -- Veterans, who don't have homes in Siouxland, do have some options when it comes to finding a place to stay.

Veterans Affairs works with the housing authority in Sioux City to help veterans get homes through "Section 8" housing.

VA employees said they still have vouchers to give to veterans in need.

But, in the winter months, they don't seem to find as many veterans to reach out to.

"December and January tend to be a little bit slower months. But, certainly the weather conditions make it where I want to be out trying to find anybody I can to get those vouchers filled," VA Homeless Outreach Social Worker Joan McCarthy said.

McCarthy said she visits the Gospel Mission in Sioux City at least once a week to reach out to the veterans there
