Woodbury Co. social services department discusses their budget
The budget discussion for Woodbury County's fiscal year 2015 is underway.
Tuesday morning, supervisors met to go over some of the proposed items.
One department discussed was mental health services.
Officials informed the board that the department had 2.8 million available for this fiscal year.
Social services coordinator Patty Erickson-Puttmann said these funds will be helpful this year.
But, she still doesn't feel confident with the numbers and the department's future budget.
"I'm concerned not only about the way we're ending this year, like I say, there are some line items that are tremendously over what we had budgeted or anticipated. And, then next year, it's so uncertain as to what the legislature and the state will commit towards mental health and disability services," Erickson-Puttmann said.
Erickson-Puttmann said social services will use the extra money from this year to pay bills and set money to create new programs.
She also said part of it will fund their move to the Tri View location.
