SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Water pipes continue to break all over the Siouxland area due to the cold temperatures.
The latest victim, Trattoria Fresco, the Italian restaurant located next to the Sioux City Hotel.
Owner Israel Badilla says he received a phone call at 1:45 Tuesday morning from the Sioux City police department informing him that a pipe in the sprinkler system had broken and that the restaurant had flooded.
Another pipe around the entrance of the building also burst, causing flooding in the entrance to Trattoria Fresco as well.
Clean-up crews spent the Tuesday at the restaurant and insurance came in to assess the damage.
Badilla says that he's not sure how much he's looking at in damages, but that there's a lot of work to be done before he can re-open the restaurant.
"No ceiling, the ceiling caved in," said Badilla. "And our party room. We have to take off all the wood floor and replace it. Carpet has to be taken off and redone. We still haven't even gotten to the walls."
Badilla says he hopes that the restaurant can be open again in three to four days, but says the best case scenario for re-opening is likely Saturday.
