DeAndre Kane had 30 points in Iowa State's 87-72 win over Baylor on Monday in Ames, Iowa.
Ninth-ranked Iowa State rolled past number-7 Baylor 87-72 Tuesay night, setting a school record with its 14th straight win. This was the first matchup of top 10 teams in Ames in 13 years.
DeAndre Kane had a season-high 30 points and filled up the stat sheet with nine assists, eight rebounds and five steals. The senior transfer from Marshall had 17 points in the first half, as ISU led by 2 at halftime.
The rest of the Cyclones got untracked early in the second half and blew past the Bears with a 28-12 run. Kane did a little bit of everything and Baylor never found a way to slow him down.
"He's a mismatch nightmare out there," said ISU head coach Fred Hoiberg. "When you have a guy 6'5", 210 pounds, strong as an ox and he's experienced and he's a smart player. Whne he gets the ball down there and we're spaced right, somebody's going to get an open shot. Or if they don't double team him, he's going to get a shot and he's going to take advantage of that."
Iowa State goes on the road Saturday to play 12-2 Oklahoma, then it's back home next Monday to take on Kansas.
