Air patrol helps with search for missing Nebraskans

NEAR INMAN, NE - The search for a northeast Nebraska couple missing since last weekend took to the sky Saturday.

Two Nebraska Civil Air Patrol planes flew over Holt County, assisting the Antelope and Holt County Sheriff's departments in the search for 33-year old Cory Wettlaufer of Inman and 31-year old Amanda Makovicka of Orchard.

The pair were last seen by a motorist in a 1997 GMC Jimmy headed east of Inman.

Officials with the Air Patrol say they're searching an area of about 60-square miles using Inman, O'Neill and Chambers, Nebraska as boundaries.

Deputies from the Holt and Antelope County Sheriff's departments assisted in the search from the ground, but officials with the Nebraska State Patrol say they are not part of the active search at this time.

Anyone who has any information regarding the whereabouts of Wettlaufer or Makovicka are urged to contact either the Holt County Sheriff's Office at (402) 336-2850 or the Antelope County Sheriff's Office at (402) 887-4148.

Public records show Cory Wettlaufer spent time in prison for a burglary back in 2008.  Authorities say at this point they are treating this as a missing person's case.
