One hospitalized after three car crash on Sioux City street
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) A woman was sent to the hospital after a three car accident on Jackson Street. It happened a little before seven o'clock, Saturday night.
An elderly woman was driving down the 3200 block of Jackson Street when Sioux City police say she lost control of her vehicle and locked up her brakes. That caused her to strike a parked car, and then side-swipe a second car in her lane, damaging the passenger side.
The driver of the third car was not hurt.
Sioux City police say one of the worst mistakes you can make when you lose control of your vehicle is to lock up your breaks.
"Because you lose complete control of your steering," said Officer Bill Nice from the Sioux City Police Department. "At that point, you can't avoid where you're going, your brakes are locked up. Sometimes the best thing you can do is just steer instead of locking up the breaks."
The driver of the first car was transported to Unity Point-St. Luke's with chest pains.
