Siouxland student work to be better leaders and fight bullying

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Siouxland student leaders gathered in Sioux City to learn about bullying and being leader.    

Over 120 students attended the Northwest Iowa - Northeast Nebraska Student Council Leadership Conference at North High School Monday.

Keynote speaker, Scott Backovich spoke to the students about what it takes to be a a leader.

Students also discussed ways to solve problems with bullying.

"The biggest issue with bullying is that it's still happening and especially now with the technology, like cyber bullying, that's probably the biggest issue," Matt Bennett, North student said.

"Kelsi Wilkie, a student said, "The purpose of this event is to bring students together that are all leaders and grow their leadership experience as a whole.

Student leaders say they will take the ideas back to their schools and share the message with other students.
