NORFOLK, Neb (KTIV/US92) The Norfolk Chamber of Commerce didn't have to look far to find its new President and CEO
During a special board meeting Monday, it was announced that Mark Zimmerer had accepted that position.
Zimmerer serves on the Chamber Board of Directors and most recently was director of occupational health at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Zimmerer says he's in a good situation taking over the Chamber, and says he wants to make sure the Chamber maintains their level of success.
Zimmerer said, "We're going to look at really sitting down and looking at what we're currently doing, do a strategic planning session and really put a focus on goals and objectives, so we know when we accomplish what it is we set out to do."
Chamber officials say Zimmerer is uniquely qualified to fill the position due to his activity with the chamber as well as his professional standing in the community.
Zimmerer is filling the vacancy left by the departure of Dennis Houston who'd held the position for four-years before leaving in November to take a similar position in Colorado.
