VERMILLION, SD - Students at the University of South Dakota were flocking to their new and improved student center.

Students returned to Vermillion to start their new semester Monday.
They arrived to a bigger and better place to study, eat, and hang out with friends.

The Muenster University Center, commonly known as "the MUC" to those at U-S-D, includes 31-thousand additional square feet along with more dining options than ever before. They include Chick-fil-A, Einstein Brothers Bagels, and Qdoba.

Some students consider the center to be the heart of campus and say they're thrilled about the expansion.

"It's nice. It makes it look a lot better, I think. Also, I think it's going to bring a lot more people together, you can meet more people," USD Sophomore Devon O'Farrell said.

"I think that it really expanded everything and really opened up the variety and it also makes it more exciting to eat at a new place and open up with a fresh new year," USD Sophomore Carissa Bayne said.

The new center cost $11.6 million.

If you're interested in checking it out for yourself, the university will be holding a community open house this Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m.
