Sioux City City Council okays Echo Electric Supply Company's new facility

Another project that's been on hold received approval from the city council Monday night.

Echo Electric Supply Company was given the go-ahead on its 2.6-million dollar construction project at 1200 Cunningham Drive.

The company employees 22 people and with the expansion, plans to add 13 more jobs.

The city's economic development director Marty Dougherty said it's a great step for the city.

"They're growing. They've continued to grow and they need to expand. They've run out of space. So, it's a significant investment. It's great to see that down in the yards area," Dougherty said.

Dougherty expects construction for the new facility to begin in the spring.
