Real-life version of "Breaking Bad" blue meth is showing up on the streets in NM

(KOB)  You've seen the famous blue tinted crystallized drug on the hit TV series "Breaking Bad".

It's even marketed in Albuquerque and online nationwide as candy.

Kevin Abar with Homeland Security Investigations says it's very real.

"We are we are seeing an increase in blue meth up in the Four Corners, and into the Farmington region. It's actually being moved and pushed by various distributors," Abar said.

It's a way for them to actually advertise and brand their product.

While these meth dealers know a thing or two about marketing, in reality agents say their product isn't very good. Contrary to the show this drug is not the pure stuff.

That's because while it starts out 80-90 percent pure meth, once its shipped from Mexico second-hand dealers cut it with chemicals to make it blue.

"Its truly bad," Abar said, "It's a bad meth that's created a lot of individuals getting sick from utilizing it."
