Tyson Foods files appeal after Dakota City, NE workers awarded millions

Tyson Foods has filed an appeal after a judge ordered the company to pay nearly $5M to the state of Nebraska, and thousands of employees at its Dakota City plant.

The ruling came down in October.  It covers more than 7,000 employees who worked at the plant from January 2004 to April 2013.

In the suit, workers say they weren't paid for the time they spent putting on, and taking off, protective clothing.

The workers would split a little over $3M.  The rest goes to Nebraska because the state doesn't allow punitive damages.
