UPDATE: Branstad announces re-election bid

DES MOINES, Iowa (KTIV) Iowa Governor Terry Branstad says he plans to run again.

The Republican governor announced his plans for re-election before several hundred supporters at a conference center in West Des Moines.  He starts a statewide tour Thursday.

The Governor's been laying the groundwork to run since last summer. He even says he says more then 4-million dollars for his campaign.

Branstad first took office as Governor of Iowa back in 1982.

"Four years ago I asked a question. Are you ready for a come back? Tonight, I ask another question. Are you ready to build Iowa's future?" said Branstad

As part of his statewide tour Governor Branstad will be in Sioux City and Orange City on Saturday.
