SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -

Bishop Heelan all-state quarterback Trent Solsma has announced on Twitter that he has committed to play football at Morningside College.

Solsma led the Crusaders the Class 3A state championship this past fall. He threw 45 touchdown passes as a senior to tie the Iowa all-time high school record. That included a state-record six TD passes in the title game.

Solsma's total of 84 TD tosses, in just two years as a starter, are the third most in Iowa history.

He will join a Mustang program that played in the NAIA semifinals last season.
