Wood burning stove sparks fire in Royal, IA

A fire damaged a home in Royal, Iowa Wednesday night.  The call came in about 8:45 for a fire on Royal's Main Street.  Heavy smoke was coming from the house when crews arrived.  Firefighters attacked the fire from the roof.  No injuries were reported and the owners were able to stay in their house Wednesday night.  Investigators say the fire started in a wood-burning stove.

Missing northeast Nebraska man and woman found

A northeast Nebraska couple who had been missing for several days have been found, but many questions remain.  The Antelope County Sheriff's office says 31-year-old Amanda Makovicka of Orchard and 33-year-old Corey Wettlaufer of Inman have been located.  But authorities aren't saying when or where they were found or their conditions.  Authorities spent several days searching for the two by land and air.

UPDATE: Branstad announces re-election bid

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad announces that he will run for an unprecedented sixth term in office.  Before a crowd of several hundred supporters Wednesday night in West Des Moines, the 67-year-old Republican said he is "energized" and ready to run.  He'll leave Thursday on a statewide campaign tour that will bring him to Sioux City and Orange City on Saturday.  Branstad was first elected Iowa's governor in 1982.

Officials preparing for new Iowa Rock 'n Roll Museum

A fundraising campaign by the Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association to build a new museum is about to kick into high gear.  The group is receiving a land donation, and it's building will be located on Highway 86 just next to Toby Shine's Okoboji Classic Car museum.  Organizers hope construction will take place over the next five years.
