Weather begins to calm after wild day of snow and wind

Winds gusted to levels not often seen around Siouxland on Thursday.

60 mile per hour gusts were experienced across the area, and when you combine that with the snow showers that were moving through the region we saw some low visibilities at times.

The snow should come to an end Thursday night and the wind will taper off some.

Chief Meteorologist Ron Demers says Friday will not be as windy, so we'll get to enjoy a quieter day.

He says the wind will come back up some on Saturday but not to the levels that we had to deal with Thursday.

Demers says Sunday looks like the nicest of days to come when we should get into the 40s for our highs, and then we'll see a little cooling heading into next week.
