EPA to start work on contaminated site in Norfolk, Nebraska


Work will begin Monday, on removal of contaminated soils at a former gas plant in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Excavation of the Iowa-Nebraska Light and Power former Manufactured Gas Plant site will include building demolition and digging to a depth of ten feet.

It's set to start on Monday and last through the end of April.

Soil and water contamination at the site includes coal-tar-contaminated materials.

During the excavation, the southbound lane of 7th Street between Norfolk and Madison Avenues will be closed.
