Golfers cart out into record-breaking temperatures

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV)- As temperatures soared to record heights Sunday, several people headed out to golf in Sioux City.
Whispering Creek Golf Club had dozens of golfers out on the links, many even without a coat.
While it's certainly unusual for the course to be open in the middle of January, course employees said they try to get the club open for both members and guests whenever they can during the winter.
"Really anytime we have a nice weekend, we send out an email saying, 'hey, our course is going to be open. Feel free to stop by and play or stop in and have a meal,' or something like that. Just kind of to keep our hospitality up and make sure everybody's happy with our course," Tyler Malenosky, Pro Shop Attendant said.
Golfers said they were very glad the club chose to open over the weekend.
In fact, they said they could hardly believe their luck.
"I'm loving life right now, are you kidding me? January 19th, we're playing golf, and I have no coat on," Troy Worden
Whispering Creek says they'll be monitoring the weather for the rest of winter for any other potential, however unusual, golfing opportunities.
