Siouxlanders reflect on Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous speeches

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - Martin Luther King Jr. was an influential civil rights leader.

Monday night, his life and achievements were celebrated by the Sioux City Youth Chapter of the NAACP and Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

The program featured a choir with community leaders and local students read poems.

Dr. King's "Mountain Top" speech was also presented.

But his most famous address is "I Have a Dream".

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character," Rev. Dr. Floyd E. Brown, Mt. Zion Baptist Church read from Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech.

King was a leader in the movement to end racial segregation in the United States.
