Madison Co. Neb. officials open bids for final phase of the NE Industrial Highway


NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) - The final phase of a long-awaited construction project in Siouxland will begin this year.

Madison County Nebraska officials, opened the bids for the final phase of the Northeast Industrial Highway January 24.

County highway officials said, they received six general contracting bids for the project, which will give truckers a throughway connecting Highways 35 and 81 north of Norfolk.

This will make it so can avoid the downtown area as they deliver materials to Norfolk businesses north of town.

Officials said the low bid came from a contractor based out of Cherokee, Iowa, with a price tag of roughly $3.6 million.

The contract will go to the County Board to be approved next week and weather permitting work will start in March.

This multi-year project will be done next June.
