UPDATE: One dead and one injured in westside shooting
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Sioux City Police are on the scene of a double shooting outside a home on Sioux City's west side.
According to Officer Dane Wagner, they were called to 507 West 27th Street just before 5:15 p.m.
When they arrived, they found a victim laying in the driveway with a gunshot wound to the chest. He later died at the hospital.
Another victim was shot in the leg. He was transported from the 28th Street bridge behind Hy-Vee to Mercy Medical Center.
Mike Patterson lives kitty-corner to 507 and his mom was home when the shooting happened.
"She heard about five or six loud pops coming from across the street," said Mike Patterson. "Were they all like one after the other or...," asked reporter Brianna Clark. "Yeah, that's what she said," said Patterson.
Police detailed several suspects for questioning, but said the gunman was still at large Saturday night. They could also be seen searching the property with flashlights. They said the shooting was not a random act of violence.
There was a double murder inside this same house last November. Thirty-five-year-old Yolanda Valdez, and 33-year-old Michael Delgado of Sioux City were shot and killed . A third victim, 33-year-old Luis Sanchez, of Sioux City was shot and stabbed, but survived.
Authorities say an altercation between Juan Antonio Nino-Estrada and Sanchez escalated into gunfire. Estrada was charged with two counts of first degree murder and one count of attempted murder. Authorities say the incident revolved around drugs.
Sioux City police say Sanchez was in the process of moving out of the home when the shooting occurred.
They say that the suspect shot at one of the people who was inside the home during the November shooting, but that person was unharmed.
