Official: Lack of snow doesn't melt Winter Games participation

OKOBOJI, Iowa (KTIV) - The 34th University of Okoboji winter games have been running all weekend, and the cold weather isn't scaring people away from participating.

Games officials say that the lack of snow has brought in fewer snowmobilers this year, but that it helps that the games reach a wide demographic, ranging from children to adults.

With more and more events being added each year, turnouts for the games continue to increase.

"Turnout's usually a couple thousand people," said winter games co-chair Alison Schmitz. Every event, as far as I know, has been fully registered, so lots and lots of people come out for this event."

The games were capped off Sunday with the pancake breakfast and Snowball dance.
