SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) - SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV)- Sioux City police say a weekend shooting, and two others, are all connected.

Police Chief Doug Young would not say if the shootings are gang-related, but he did say the people involved knew each other, and therefore knew who they were targeting.

Police say those involved in Saturday evening's shooting, at 507 West 27th Street, knew each other including 32-year old Rodney Houston. He was found lying in the driveway with a gunshot wound to the chest. He died shortly after in Mercy Medical Center.

The other victim, 35-year-old Jorge Chavez, was shot twice and injured before running way and collapsing nearby. He was treated at a local hospital. "There's some relationship there. Either they know each other, there could be some type of other relationship there, besides just knowing each other," Police Chief Doug Young.

This shooting took place on moving day for the residents of the home. Luis Sanchez, the man who lived at the home, was retrieving some of his things when the fight began. Sanchez was injured in the shooting at the same home in November of 2013. "This was part of moving out, somebody collecting some property, and then obviously an altercation occurred at that point. But these people were being court ordered out of the residence," Young said.

Schmit Properties out of Sioux City contracted the house to Sanchez starting in 2009, but evicted him and the other residents on January 17th. Officers did visit the home on Friday, the day before this latest shooting, to serve a search warrant related to the November shooting. "We give that area special interest, because of what happened in the past, but as you might guess, it's hard to predict an incident to occur," Young said.

Police say they'll need the community help to continue to make the area a safer place. "We just need more involvement in these groups of neighbors getting together and talking to each other, and knowing what's out of order in their neighborhood, and contacting police so we can look into it," Young said.

Police are searching for a suspect described as a hispanic male, 5', 11", weighing 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

They're also looking for a girl they're calling a "person of interest," Samatha Levering. She's described as a native american female, standing 5', 6", and weighing 130 pounds. Police don't believe Levering was involved in the shooting. But, officers think she has important information they need. They say they're having trouble getting ahold of her. They think she is an associate of the suspect and was there at the time of the shooting.
