Students dance to raise money for Community Action Agency

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV)- It's Catholic schools week. This year's theme is communities of faith, knowledge and service. Students kicked off the week on Monday with a dance-a-thon.

The students at Mater Dei Immaculate Conception danced their little hearts out to raise money for the local Community Action Agency. More than 240 students, pre-k through fifth grade, packed themselves in the school's gym. Popular dances of the morning included the limbo, the twist, the chicken dance and the hokey pokey. "I like doing the hokey pokey because you just like shake everything and have fun," said Ellie Koob. "We're dancing for the community action agency and we're raising money. If we weren't there we'd probably be doing out math worksheets that our teacher just assigned us," said Makenzie Solma. "It's different because we'd usually be learning math but we are dancing in there instead," said Isabelle Bertram.

In just one hour of dancing, Mater Dei Immaculate Conception and Mater Dei Nativity schools raised a combined total of over $500.
