Ho Chunk Inc. makes plans for casino & events center at Atokad Park
SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV)- The company has drawn up plans for a proposed casino and events center in Atokad Park in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
Efforts to change Nebraska's constitution to allow gaming in the state have gone on for nearly two decades now, but Ho-Chunk Incorporated's President and CEO Lance Morgan says it's not a matter of if, but when the state decides to allow gambling.
He says passing that law could stop the loss of about four hundred million dollars to Iowa, and do good for the state. "I think overall, there's a lot to be gained from it, by having the local development participation, profits reinvested in the community, taxes to reduce the burden on home owners, and more jobs for more people. It seems like a pretty positive situation all around," said Lance Morgan, CEO & President of Ho-Chunk Inc.
Nebraska state Senator Russ Karpisek proposed an amendment last week to approve gambling in the state pointing out that every state bordering Nebraska has casinos.
