Ewing, Neb. man sentenced to life in prison for double murder conviction

NELIGH, Neb. (KTIV/US92) - A Ewing, Nebraska man convicted of first-degree murder in the slayings of his ex-girlfriend and her new husband in late 2012 will spend the rest of his life in prison.

33-year-old Matthew Hinrichsen was sentenced Tuesday morning in Antelope County Court in the deaths of Victoria Lee and Alex Vargas.

They had been shot and their trailer set on fire with them inside.

It happened in December of 2012.

Hinrichsen was convicted last October of two counts of first-degree murder and two weapons charges.

Tuesday, he was sentenced to life without parole on each of the murder convictions.

He was also sentenced to up to 80 years on the weapons convictions.
