SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV)- Jailers at the Woodbury County Jail are now working 12 hour shifts instead of the traditional 8 hours.
The sheriff's department is just over a week into this new schedule
After months of looking at ways to save money and adequately staff the Woodbury County Jail, those who work at the sheriff's office said they hope this saves money when it comes to paying employees overtime.
But, it's still in the early stages and Major Todd Wieck said it will take some getting used to.
"We're only 8 days in to it. It's a little too early. The officers for the most part like it," Major Wieck said.
Major Wieck said they will now have at max 13 people working the 12 hour shifts between the main jail and Prairie Hill.
