Members of the Mayor's Youth Group are among those who made the trip to Des Moines for the Chamber's Legislative Day
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
A veritable Who's Who of Sioux City leaders are in Des Moines this morning to drum up support for local projects and interests. They left early Wednesday morning for the 38th annual Siouxland Chamber of Commerce Legislative Day at the state capitol.
Among those making the trip are members of the city council, the Sioux City School board and the mayor's youth commission.
They were scheduled for morning meetings with Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds, and Paul Trombino, director of the Iowa Department of Transportation.
Debi Durham, director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority and former Siouxland Chamber director was scheduled to speak to the group a lunch in downtown Des Moines. Then in the afternoon the group was set meet with lawmakers, including the leaders of both the Iowa House and Senate.
Bishop Heelan had 15 seniors graduate from last year's 14-0 team.
Last year was a dream season for the Bishop Heelan football team. The Crusaders went undefeated and were the Class 3A state champions. Fifteen seniors graduated, which may lead to a different-looking Heelan offense.More >>
