American Red Cross looking for "Heroes of the Heartland"

DES MOINES, Iowa (SUBMITTED) Do you know someone who has performed an extraordinary act of courage or dedicated countless hours to a special cause? The American Red serving Greater Iowa is looking for common citizens, the unheralded and unselfish pillars of our communities.

Nominations will be accepted for the Heroes of the Heartland events held in Des Moines, Fort Dodge, Ottumwa, Sioux City and Spencer until January 31. The Red Cross depends on the public to nominate individuals who have performed an extraordinary act of courage or has put in countless hours toward a special cause. Nomination forms can be found on-line at www.redcross.org/ia or picked up at the local Red Cross offices in the five participating communities.
