Father mourns son lost in Arlington fire

Posted: Updated:

Four-year-old Delacisey Seales' life was full of tiny details -- his love for Spiderman, time spent playing Legos, his puppy.

Now, those details are all his father has left.

"He had a lot of respect for people," said Delaney Seales, Delacisey's father. "He was a good baby."

Delacisey and his mother were killed last week in an Arlington house fire that claimed three other lives. The fire was so intense, rescue crews couldn't get inside.

Seales said most of the photos of his son were burned as well, except for a precious few.

"I cant understand, because it really hasn't hit me yet," Seales said. "I want to believe that this is some kind of dream and I'm going to wake up."

A week after the tragedy, a lot of questions remain. Seales wants answers, but all he has is "what-ifs," and all the things he wants to tell his son.

"What I always tell him: 'Daddy loves you, boy,'" he said.

But as the investigation continues, he said he'll remember the time he spent with Delacisey.

"He was just very caring about everybody," he said. "He always had a story that he wanted to tell you about his day, what he was doing, things like that."

Especially the tiny details.

"I'm going to miss those conversations," Seales said. "And that smile."

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
