Hausburn is central attraction of Manning's German heritage museum

The town of Manning, Iowa is rich in German heritage, and one attraction in town shows that heritage well.

Manning features the only authentic German Hausbarn in the United States.  Manning Hausbarn-Heritage park features a network of tourist attractions, including the hausbarn.

It was built in 1660 and was dismantled and given to the Manning community in 1996.  It was rebuilt in Manning in 1998.

It now serves as a museum and is available for tours, and is the staple of the park's attractions.

"There's a lot to see out here, and there's a lot of Manning people who haven't seen it all yet, and lots of other people. We're hoping to get them here this summer."

The Hausbarn is open from May until October.
