NORFOLK, NE. (KTIV/US92) -

Some Siouxland youngsters will be getting whiter smiles thanks to a program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

The UNMC College of Dentistry is providing free screenings to more than 200 children this week, including many from northeast Nebraska. UNMC officials said children from Norfolk, Stanton, Madison and Wayne will be among those that will get numerous procedures done this Friday. The procedures include cleaning, extractions and crowns. College officials said the idea is to help out under served children.

The college screens kids to come to the college for a day, and this Friday the COD will transport them to campus for the procedures to get done. The kids will also take part in educational games and activities designed to increase their awareness of oral health. This is the 12th year the UNMC College of Dentistry has provided the program.
