Siouxland Humane Society is making sweets for your sweethearts

The Siouxland Humane Society's making a delicious treat to raise money this Valentine's Day.

The Humane Society plans on making 12,700 gourmet double chocolate caramel apples by this Saturday. They're predicting it'll take well over 400 volunteers to help accomplish this goal. "We literally could not do this without volunteers from the community," said LaVon Stroh from the Siouxland Humane Society. "We have people from everywhere in Siouxland come out and help."

With the smell of caramel and chocolate lingering in the air, volunteers said it's a sweet environment to work in.

"It feels pretty good," said volunteer Quin Bruns. "I mean, I love animals and helping people out, especially with caramel apples, they're delicious."

The Siouxland Humane Society is still looking for volunteers. If you'd like to help cover some apples in caramel, call the Siouxland Humane Society at (712) 262-2614. The sale of these treats will help support more than 3,000 homeless, abused and neglected animals that come through the Siouxland Humane Society's doors every year.
