Tax hike passes and fails for Siouxland school district


SIOUX COUNTY, Iowa (KTIV) -- Voters in the Boyden-Hull school district approved a property tax hike.

But, voters cast ballots on two different tax hikes.

Only one of them passed.

By an eight-vote majority, the hike which amounts to 67-cents per one-thousand dollars of valuation passed.

It will increase the current Physical Plant and Equipment Levy through June 30th, 2016.

The second measure was voted down.

Had it passed, it would have authorized a ten year Physical Plant and Equipment Levy at the maximum amount of $1.34 per one-thousand dollars of valuation, for ten years.
