WATERLOO (KWWL) -
While the amount of snow that fell varies greatly from north to south, the snow that fell Tuesday night and Wednesday morning across eastern Iowa, plus the gusty winds, made it a difficult commute for many on Wednesday morning.
The Iowa Department of Transportation say most state-controlled roads are partially to mostly covered, with road conditions getting worse the further south you go. Tow bans are in effect along Interstate 80 in Poweshiek, Iowa and Johnson Counties.
Plows are out and about working to get the roads cleared and get things improved for the evening commute.
Officials ask that you slow it down and use your winter driving skills when you are driving.
