East wide receiver Ronald Nash signs his letter of intent to play football at Northern Iowa on Wednesday.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
Two of Siouxland's few NCAA Division 1 football signees this year came from Sioux City East.
Wide receiver Ronald Nash is going to Northern Iowa. Nash had 149 career receptions for over 1,500 yards. Those are the third highest totals in East history.
"UNI is just a family atmosphere," said Nash. "I felt welcome there, they treated me right, and they offered me last summer, so they were with me the whole time. They were with me through thick and thin, and it just felt like the right place."
Chase Kern will play for South Dakota State. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound defensive end had 99 tackles, including 10 for loss.
"It really felt like a family atmosphere up there, so that's the reason I think I chose it, was the family atmosphere," said Kern. "I really felt like I was going to be a part of something, instead of just another player to be a product."
East running back Ronald Carter is going to Iowa Central Community College.
Greg Kirwan is joining the Morningside football team.
Caitlyn Foley will play Soccer at Minnesota State.
Justin Hill will run Cross Country for Southwest Minnesota State.
