SIOUX CITY, Iowa (SUBMITTED) - United Way of Siouxland, in partnership with Center for Siouxland and Mary J. Treglia Community House, is leading a campaign encouraging low to moderate income working residents to file for income tax credits that could help persons receive between $475 to $5,891 back in tax refunds this year.
The campaign for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), a federal tax benefit, can help persons receive a refund, lower the amount of federal income taxes owed, or get a refund even if they don't owe taxes. It can help working families and individuals keep more of the money they earn in a year. To claim the tax credits, eligible workers must file a tax return.
Free tax preparation sites will be hosted during the work week, by appointment, only at Center for Siouxland, Mary J. Treglia Community House, and LeMars Public Library beginning February 3rd. This year "Super Saturdays" are being introduced as well. On Saturdays, beginning February 1st through April 12th, individuals will be able to have their taxes prepared without an appointment at the designated locations throughout Siouxland.
To get a schedule of dates and locations or to find out if you qualify for free income tax preparation and filing, please contact the Center for Siouxland at 712.252.1861 ext. 11.
