Woodbury County Deputy Sheriffs work out contract with county board
Representatives from the Communication Workers of America and Woodbury County Deputy Sheriffs went before the county's board of supervisors this morning to ask for changes to how they are currently paid.
The union and deputy sheriffs proposed changing how quickly employees can move up in the department.
They also proposed higher wages depending on advancement.
The wages range from 3.5% to 7% higher than they are now.
The board countered by suggesting a 1% increase for all positions and no change in how quickly employees can move up.
They are now trying to find a middle ground.
Once, a decision is made, the union will have to take the proposal back to its members and get a majority approval.
Then, they will go back to the board for a vote before it's final.
