The Sioux City Bandits open their season on Friday with an exhibition game against Sioux Falls.
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KTIV) -
The NFL season may be over but Indoor football returns to Sioux City on Friday when the Bandits host the Sioux Falls Storm in an exhibition game.
The Bandits met the media as they get ready for another season. Sioux City went 10-3 last season, losing in the playoff semifinals.
The Bandits have quarterback Scott Jensen back to lead the offense. Jensen threw for over 1,200 yards last season and has 154 TD passes in his Bandit career.
Rahn Franklin is back in the defensive secondary. He has 21 career interceptions.
The Bandits plan to make a run at another title.
"Coaches are pretty excited that camp looked better than any team in the past few years and so that's encouraging," said Franklin. "But it's the small details, the finer points of the game that we need to take care of."
"We've had some guys that have retired or aren't playing anymore or have moved onto another team," said defensive coordinator John Zevenbergen. "I'm excited to see how the team comes together, see the new look Bandits, and hopefully win another championship."
Friday's preseason game is at 7:05 at the Tyson Events Center. The home opener is Sunday, March 2nd, at 2-05 in the afternoon against Salina, Kansas.
