PHOTOS: Siouxland TV legend Jim Henry 'Canyon Kid' tribute
SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Local TV icon Jim Henry will be laid to rest Thursday.
Jim died last week at the age of 89 with family members by his side.
Jim and his wife, Karen, had moved to Michigan to be close to their son.
As you know, Jim was "Canyon Kid."
He hosted the children's program for more than 30 years.
Then for 17 years, he was the host of Around Siouxland here at KTIV.
Jim Henry was 89 years old.
KTIV is sad to learn of the passing of Siouxland television legend, Jim Henry. We were so fortunate to have had Jim as part of our team on Signal Hill for nearly two decades hosting "Around Siouxland".
Many Siouxlanders have fond memories of watching Jim as the "Canyon Kid" on KCAU and later in his career hosting "Around Siouxland" on KTIV. Jim was a great ambassador for our station and a good friend to many of us that have worked here.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Jim's family.
