Siouxland students get ready for the real world

NORFOLK, Neb. (KTIV/US92) -- A group of Siouxland students got some real world experience Thursday preparing them to enter into the job market.

Students in the Norfolk High School sophomore class

got a taste of the post-graduation world as Norfolk High partnered with "Grow Norfolk" to set up mock job interviews during school hours.

Jake Luhr, the interim principal at Norfolk Senior High says he came up with the idea as a way to help prepare 15 and 16 year-olds to enter into the job market.

Jake Luhr, Norfolk Senior High interim principal said, "That's a skill that kids are never too young to start to interact with adults and answer questions articulately."

Officials with "Grow Norfolk" say the event fits hand-in-hand with the Norfolk Area Chamber's goal of keeping young people in the area, and also gives them an idea of what kind of jobs are available to them, both while in school and in post-graduation life.
